Artist Bio: Ben Felix is from American Fork, Utah and received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Brigham Young University in 2015 and a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Notre Dame in 2019. For the last 4 years he has been working for FFKR Architects in Salt Lake City and became a licensed architect in October of 2022. In August of 2023, he started a new career in academia and joined the faculty of the new classical architecture program at Utah Valley University. Ben is passionate about classical architecture and traditional urbanism. He has enjoyed lending his talents to the local chapter of the ICAA and is looking forward to training the next generation of architects in his home state to be grounded in classical principles. In his free time, Ben loves to practice the skills of hand drafting and watercolor rendering he learned at the University of Notre Dame, and he has been working to document a large portion of the local traditional sacred buildings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in an attempt to preserve their character for future generations. He has particularly enjoyed constructing elevation drawings from historical photographs of traditional buildings that have been demolished for decades using BIM and other techniques.
